Description
Let's recall the topics that have become controversial in Ukrainian social media and caused heated debates. How long will the Russo-Ukrainian war last? Should we forget about civilian affairs for the sake of fighting and victory during the war? Do we have the right to celebrate the beauty of life when Ukrainians are dying at the frontline every day?
For the soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the answers are different, because they see the normalcy of life only on vacation or at a distance, on a smartphone screen.
For civilians who are hiding from the shellings, they have their own answers. One thing is important for both «sides» - we have to maintain our mental balance despite the war.
The beauty of photography helps to preserve this, says Oleg Andros, a fighter in the Ukrainian Armed Forces. You will see a selection of photos from two facets of his life: «peace» – women's portraits, and «war» – a photo chronicle of air defense. In his works, the beauty of the female body, its vitality contrasts with the military realities of «hunting for shaheds» .
And at the same time, these are two facets of our single world.
In 2024, Oleg (also a writer and PhD in Political Science) became a member of the National Union of Photographers of Ukraine. This is his first solo photo exhibition in his new status.
The exhibition was organized with the assistance of the National Union of Photographers of Ukraine and the National Union of Cinematographers of Ukraine in the exhibition space and series of exhibitions of cinematographers and photographers at the Central Cinema House.
